Solidarity Action held in Tbilisi

Solidarity action of journalists requesting investigation of facts of oppression of journalists was held in front of the Ministry of Justice ofGeorgiatoday, 25 May. Journalists and representatives of NGOs protested against the facts of oppression of journalists taken place during last two months.
Main request of the given protest action is investigation of such facts and bringing to justice of the officials that have interfered with professional activities of journalists – have attacked and verbally and physically abused, or have illegally detained media workers.
Chairman of the Legal Committee of Parliament Pavle Kublashvili accidentally witnessed the protest action when he was leaving the Ministry of Justice. He made a comment to journalists and stated that “the State must specially react to the facts of interference with journalistic activities.”
“I am sure it will be so,” Kublashvili stressed.
