The editorial office of the Kutaisi-based newspaper Akhali Gazeti has launched an information center. www.newpress.ge, available online from May 1, 2012, will be similar to the information centers operating in several regions nationwide.
www.newpress.ge, said Ia Bobokhidze, Editor, the Akhali Gazeti, is not going to be the online format of the print version. It will be an independent platform using every multimedia resource. Along with news photo-video reports and journalism investigations will be posted on the website.
We’ll try to provide readers with all kind of news from Imereti region on a daily basis,“ said Ia Bobokhidze reporting to Media.ge.
At the initial stage the journalists employed at the newspaper will be working to fill up the content of the web portal but, according to Ia Bobokhidze, they might be replaced by some other journalists, if needed.
The project is being made possible with the financial backing of the Open Society Georgia Foundation and National Endowment for Democracy (NED).
