Cross-border news exchange to connect countries of Eastern Europe, Balkans and Caucasus

Internews Georgia in partnership with Internews is launching a competition to select producers of “Neighbors” cross-border news packages as part of “Strengthening Independent Media in Europe and Eurasia” project. “Neighbors” news exchange initiative will connect journalists from participating countries: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Republic of North Macedonia, Serbia, Kosovo, Moldova, Ukraine, Armenia and Georgia.

Participating news outlets and independent journalists will compete for grants of up to 7,000USD in three categories: original cross-border production (with or without travel), dual cross-border production (matching grants), and solo production to adapt/enhance existing national packages (this category is reserved for current or previous national partners of the project). The total grant pool for cross-border production grants (in all 3 categories) is 28,000 USD.

Internews and its partners will provide editorial support for participating teams.

“Neighbors" cross-border packages will focus on topics of significance to citizens in the countries of Eastern Europe, Balkans and Caucasus, and will provide audiences new opportunities to see how their neighbors are dealing with similar challenges.  “Neighbors” multimedia packages will be shared through media channels of participating media outlets.

The purpose of the “Strengthening Independent Media in Europe and Eurasia” project is to improve access to and exchange of information among citizens of Europe and Eurasia.

The deadline for competition is April 15, 18:00, 2019.
