Global training in Data Journalism for journalists and students

The Georgian Institute of Public Affairs (GIPA) and JumpStart Georgia are hosting local learning group meetings for an Online Data Journalism course organised by the European Journalism Centre.

The online course Doing Journalism with Data: First Steps, Skills and Tools, starts on the 19th of May and lasts for 5 weeks. This 5-module online course is run by leading international data journalism experts and is open to anyone in the world.

Local learning group meetings will take place every Friday from 3 to 6 o’clock starting from the 23rd of May until the 20th of June in Frontline Club (Lado Asatiani 62). Georgian facilitators with expertise in data journalism will moderate group discussions and answer course-related questions.

Local learning group participants should complete each module before the group workshops.

23 May: Data Journalism in the newsroom

30 May: Finding data to support stories

6 June: Finding story ideas with data analysis

13 June: Dealing with messy data

20 June: Telling stories with visualisation

Training is free and working languages are Georgian and English. Participants are recommended to bring their own laptops.
