18 May Rezonansi newspaper reports qoting Okrokana population that activists of the National Movement and representatives of Didgori Gamgeoba (Council) blackmail people for installing Global TV antennas in Okrokana.
“Several days ago Gamgebeli (Head of the Council) and activists of the National Movement went to people and threatened them – those who would install antennas would be fired, or if someone had an unregistered house they would not allow registration,” one of Okrokana residents, who refrained from saying his name, told Rezonansi. According to him, “the coordinators threaten to abolish social assistance to disabled and socially vulnerable residents. Disabled persons are receiving additional GEL 22 to the pension and socially vulnerable mothers receive GEL 25 for each child. That is why part of population decided to remove the antennas and annulled contract with Global TV.”
Another Okrokana resident said: “they told us, who had these antennas that they would abolish the additional amount from pension. Global TV representatives came yesterday and removed my neighbor’s antenna.
Global TV Marketing and Development Director Zurab Bazlidze confirmed the fact of antenna removal to Rezonansi. According to him, such cases did not happen just in Okrokana. “It happens in almost all the regions. Such cases have been detected in other suburbs of Tbilisi – Didi and Patara Lilo, New Samgori, Gurjaani region, Testritskaro region and etc.” Bazlidze said.
Member of the political party Georgian Dream initiative group Eliso Chapidze says that they have information about such facts and thos who will face problems will be assisted by the party.
