The law enforcement has detained Irakli Absandze, co-editor of the Liberal magazine and a member of the Georgian Charter of Journalistic Ethics, Information Center of Kakheti reports.
The Center, referring to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, reports that Irakli has been charged according to Article 260, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Georgia on Illicit Keeping and Shipment, Transfer or Sale of drugs that is punishable by imprisonment for up to ten years in length.
Reportedly Irakli received a parcel from a friend in France, marihuana turned out to be inside. Irakli was detained before opening the parcel. According to some verified info he had been unaware what the parcel contained. He got several calls from the post office to pick up his parcel, reports ICK.
By now Irakli Absandze has been taken to a temporary detention cell.
Prior to the parliamentary elections Irakli Absandze used to work for TV 9 news service as a producer for regions.
