FLEG is an international initiative aiming at better forest law enforcement and governance. In our region the ENPI FLEG Program is being implemented by IUCN, WWF and World Bank in collaboration, and is funded by the European Commission. The information flow in the world has been significantly changed lately, due to different social and economic changes in the society. First of all, mainstream mass-media sources that were initially intended to be a tool, interconnecting various social groups, have in many countries become a control arm of powerful economic/ oligarchic structures, influencing the mass consciousness with their hidden agenda.

At the same time, the internet communication tools were introduced, that support interpersonal communication and creation of various user generated content. It includes forums, social networks, blogs, web photo and video upload portals, etc. Civil journalism is a very popular concept nowadays, as it is a main prerequisite for a civil society building. Civil journalism is journalism, independent from political or economic pressure (that can include central government, local authorities, owners or editors of magazines/ newspapers etc). This independence is especially important and applicable when talking about environmental problems, law enforcement and governance, corruption etc.
