Telavi Police Launched Investigation into Threat against Journalist

Telavi regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs launched investigation into the case of threat against the journalist. The March 2 incident local journalist Gela Mtivlishvili faced in the Tsinandali garden is being concerned.

On the aforementioned date Gela Mtivlishvili wanted to enter, as a journalist, Tsinandali historical garden currently run by local investors but he was denied entry. The journalist was going to meet with the administration to find out why the dwellers of then adjacent village were restricted entry to the garden for free.

"I wanted to meet with the garden administration; having no other way I bought a visitor's ticket and entered the garden," said Mtivlishvili reporting to Media.ge. In a few minutes after having entered the garden the journalist was caught up with the security guards having surrounded him and blocked his movement to either way. According to Mtivlishvili the head of the security even leveled threats against him with a gun. Few minutes later the person responsible for the previous complex appeared on the spot. Owing to the newcomer the situation was reloaded followed by Gela Mtivlishvili's release.

According to the journalist he has not submitted an application to the police and the investigation was launched independently, on the basis of the fact. The police have already interrogated Mtivlishvili and the security guards of the previous complex.
