WAN-IFRA and IREX Europe Training for Senior Media Managers

World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) in association with IREX Europe, who together provide unrivalled global expertise in developing and delivering business solutions for publishers, invite you to join the Business Development Component of the EU-funded 2010 - 2011 Media Strengthening Programme for Georgia (MSPG).

The application deadline for project, whose goal is better management and business development, is February 18, 2010.

The Programme is to addresses structural threats to media free from political interference. The Programme's Better Management and Business Development Component has been specifically designed to help media managers in Georgia in development of the strategic and operational skills required to address business problems, and implement sustainable revenue generating initiatives. Within its Better Management and Business Development Component, the programme will offer a series of consultations conducted throughout the length of the programme by WAN-IFRA expert and local co-trainer for the media outlets selected as a result of the call.

Who would benefit from this training

This training is suitable for any senior newspaper, TV, radio or online media outlet executive who wishes to develop these skills, and has the desire and ability to develop and implement realistic business plans.

What we will be looking for

-Clarity of purpose and ideas -Structured thought -Quality of proposal presentation -Viability of media outlet (size, potential market, current financial opportunity versus current resources and potential)

These will be used as the basis for selecting applicants whose challenges, issues and opportunities can best be served by the programme content.

How to apply

Those wishing to apply should submit new or existing business ideas that they would like to develop together with explanations of issues, which they believe may be inhibiting the growth of their business.

The Programme will use these real issues and ideas as the basis for providing the skills training and individual coaching required to develop and implement business ideas. This is likely to include areas such as:

-Business analysis -Solution evaluation -Project management -New product development -Financial planning -Business presentation -Personnel management and motivation -Team development

The final content will however - and this is one of the elements that makes the programme unique - be tailored to suit the participants needs and experience, through experienced facilitators who will work with participants both on site and remotely.

Number of slots

The group of finalists is limited to maximum of 12 people representing maximum eight outlets.
