Georgia has improved its position by 7 points according to the Freedom House findings in Freedom of the Press 2012: A Global Survey of Media Independence released on May 1 by.
But according to the report Georgia still remains in the list of partly free countries. In the previous report Georgia ranked 118 but in the recent report it progressed to 111.

First time in Georgia radio space is going to fall under monitoring. The monitoring, to last from May to December, will involve radio coverage of election-related topics. Radio monitoring will be conducted by the Internews Georgia media observers.

“Reporting on the problems of IDPs by the TV channels is of a fragmentary character and does not adequately reflect the existing situation. TV channels Imedi, Rustavi 2 and the Public Broadcaster rarely get interested in the problems of IDPs even if there is enough reason for covering the topic,” reads the report published by Internews Georgia on April 25.
