Press Distribution in Gori

In Gori two companies – Sakpresa and the joint company of Georgian Post and Georgian Lottery Company work with press distribution.  Along with that private persons also sell newspapers from stands in the streets.  They call this booths old booths, as the booths of other company appeared in Gori recently selling newspaper, lottery tickets and cigarettes.  Sakpresa representatives also work with subscribers and along with newspapers they also sell books.  Organization manager DarejanKiknadze says that newspaper sales significantly decreased lately, although number of subscribers relatively increased.  According to Kiknadze they have not been requested yet to remove their old booths from Gori. 

The same information was provided by the representative of the joint company of the Georgian Post and Georgian Lottery Company NikoTetunashvili.  Booths of the given company appeared in Gori just recently.  It is noteworthy that Sakpresa and Georgian Post sell newspapers in their booths without adding price.  Private distributor, the so called “shouters” sell press for 10 tetri more.  They have stands at different locations in the city, mainly at the public transport stops.  Despite the competition they also have customers.  According to the owners of one of the stands VeneraGogishvili newspaper sales increased lately, after the apperance of BidzinaIvanishvili in Georgian politics.  According to her, nobody prohibits her to sell newspapers. 

Not like the capital in the regions the press distribution is not in danger yet.  Local government does not say anything about removing booths, or prohibiting newspaper sales in the streets. 

Two independent newspapers KartlisKhma and KhalkhisGazeti are published in Gori.  Along with subscribers these newspapers are also sold from stands.
