Chronika, Chronika and a Cigarette in the Mouth
“Hurray to this new Georgia! Hurray to Development!” – Galaktion Tabidze
“Tell me! Tell me again!” – Achi Meparidze
“Once upon a time there was a TV called Imedi. Imedi TV did not have a mother and father died several years ago. Since then the TV could not understand who it was and who its master was. What could Imedi do? After losing the last hope Imedi chose the most ancient profession…”
What? Why would I tell a fairy tale in a blog?
Well, than you tell me: “Why do they have a rubric speaking about development in Chronika?”
Have you ever heard anywhere and from anyone about a news program in a country having a special rubric about cities in the country being reconstructed?
For those who do not know I will explain – on January 24 Imedi V added a special rubric to its “news” program that will daily cover the life of different cities of Georgia; the cities that the current government has conducted rehabilitation works.
There’s just no hope for us!
They will start now showing how happy people are in the regions, how beautifully everything has been reconstructed, how beautiful world is and how unthankful it would be not too recognize all the above mentioned.
A Russian politician joked one time: we, Russians are a cursed nation – whatever union we for we still finally get to communist party.
Who cursed us that whatever program we make it finally turns into Brezhnev time Moambe news flash?
All it lacks is live broadcast from a Soviet village, transitional red flag and socialistic competitions; everything else is the same!
I guess it is not necessary to explain what is the objective of all this.
The case is that the give rubric does not say whether it is a charged political advertisement, or free.
Making a political advertisement as a journalistic report, putting it in an information program and broadcasting it without a special title is against all the existing laws on broadcasting, but who cares…
Where are the GNCC, Charter of Ethics, or other broadcasters?
What would these organizations do if any other, even smaller broadcaster aired such reports on development activities by other political forces?
I don’t want to say that reports are a lie, inadequate, or anything like that.
It’s just that existence of such a rubric already shows how much our media is progressing and what development we are actually facing.
If you ask them the country is developing.
See you later!
P. S. During Football World Cup 2010 North Korea national team lost 2:1 to Brazil.
North Korean National TV Channel showed only the goal scored by the Korean player and joyfully told the Korean viewers that North Koreans defeated the powerful Brazilians!
How do you think is it far to Georgia?
