Giorgi Kalatozishvili, film critic has been appointed to the post of Director of TV-Company Dia (Khashuri).  Kalatozishvili has been cooperating with different magazines and newspapers since 1998, such as – Film Print, 24 Saati (24 Hours), Ckheli Shikoladi (Hot Chocolate) and Tabula.  In 2005 he went into the PR sphere and during two years worked as a junior consultant and media monitoring department head in ACT Research consulting company.

Starting from February 7 bicycle-newsstands will tour the Tbilisi streets. Newspapers and magazines were sold this way during the special event held near Rustaveli metro station on February 7. The event was organized by Organization for Supporting Free Press.

The newsstands on wheels that have been disseminating the press during the last few months were also present during this event titled “Let’s Read More”.

The Georgian Young Lawyers Association (GYLA) has responded to the changes of rules of video recording at the Parliament of Georgia. In its statement of February 7 (responding to the opening of the spring session) GYLA focused on the violations identified at the legislative body last year and called upon the Parliament for transparency.

“The Parliament would better put its efforts forth to prevent violations of various type instead of introducing additional restrictions for journalists”,

The Council of the Georgian Charter of Journalistic Ethics recognized the complaint lodged by Radio Hereti Director General Ramaz Samkharadze against Gela Mtivlishvili, head of Information Center of Kakheti (ick.ge) as admissible. Samkharadze is indicting Mtivlishvili of violating principle 1, 3 and 13 of the Charter which restricts dissemination of inaccurate and false information, and covering up the facts.

Ala Jioeva, opposition leader of self-proclaimed Republic of South Ossetia and the members of her team are preparing for the inauguration. They have already sent out invitations within de facto republic as well as the Russian Federation, Abkhazia and Nagorno-Karabakh. Jioeva has invited Russian and Abkhazian media representatives. Georgian journalists did not find themselves in the list of guests.
